Dr. Edward Li is the clinical director of ‘the a.b.c. smile’ dental practice located in the heart of London and winner of Best Young Dentist London 2022 at the Private Dentistry Awards.
Whether it’s rehabilitating tooth-wear with composites or crafting new smiles in porcelain, his artful dentistry has attracted a meticulous audience seeking contemporary cosmetic and functional makeovers that are well-documented and shared for education through his social media outlets.
Dental photography is at the core of documentation and communication, an enthusiastic passion of his that started many years before his dental career began.
This is an in-depth seminar and workshop with Dr. Edward Li at his flagship clinic to dive deep into the theory of photography using live on-screen demonstrations and hands-on workshopping with your own equipment. A technical workflow of ethical image processing will be outlined with the use of Adobe Photoshop and the in-built photo editors on iOS. All skill-sets welcome.
Objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Understand the principles of photography and how it relates to clinical photography
Breaking down common myths and barriers in dental photography
Maximise your existing equipment and learn hidden settings to elevate the captured image without image processing
Reproduce consistent photos day-in day-out, both routine and artistic photography – intra-oral, extra-oral, portraits, lab work etc.
Replicate the comfortable and repeatable positioning for the both yourself and the patient
Introduction to ethical image processing for accurate representation of clinical work with preset workflows in Adobe Photoshop and Photos on iOS/iPadOS/MacOS

- Existing camera, lens, flash set-up
- Mobile phone, tablet and/or laptop
8:30 – 9:00 – Registration and Refreshments
9:00 – 10:00 – The core principles of photography
10:00 – 10:45 – Equipment and upgrade recommendations
11:00 – 13:00 – Setting up and maximizing your existing equipment
13:00 – 14:00 – Lunch
14:00 – 16:00 – Patient positioning and trialing various flashes, diffusers and retractors
16:00 - 17:00 – Ethical image processing and file management
Upon completion, you will be awarded 7 hours CPD
